How can I install software on my computer when my cdrom wont work?

    Hi,

I got a printer and I need to install it on my laptop. The problem is my cdrom on my laptop is enfeebled. I have to use the disc to install it, it is not plug and play. I do have access to another computer, a desktop, and a plug in portable drive type thing with 1GB on it if any of that helps.

So is there any way Ill be expert to install this software on my laptop without using the cdrom?

    Thanks.

yes there is, ususally the manufacter that makes the product has the installation software on their websites to download incase you mislay the cd.

go to the manufacter website and see if they have the installation software there
  • In most cases you can find the same software from the printers web site. It may even be more up-to-date.

You can dump the cd on an peripheral device and install from it.
  • use the other computer, load the cdrom, go to my computer, right click over the icon for the cdrom with your cd in it, and select "explore"
from the menu at the top (either queue or edit) find the select all command, click that, and then copy and paste all the files into the usb thumb drive. you should be able to run the installer instantly from the thumb drive
